Our Story
Our History
Since 2009, Ashwin and Audrene Lewis have led teams of volunteers from Atlanta, Georgia on mission trips to serve in their home country of South Africa. For over ten years now, more than 200 volunteers have served alongside local church partners in the Cape Flats leading childrens’ programs, educational development, job education, and community feedings. Through the years, a dream was established to create more lasting transformation in the lives of local children and their families in the Campground community outside of Cape Town. Through these dreams, "Hope South Africa" officially began in 2014.
Our Program
At Hope South Africa, we believe that education is the best strategy to combat poverty and cycles of hopelessness. Hope South Africa’s education program is focused on supporting children from the Campground community outside of Cape Town. Hope South Africa sponsored children receive daily academic tutoring, a nutritious snack, and a safe, loving, and supervised environment to assist in their educational and spiritual development. The program is currently hosted by the Strandfontein Baptist Church educare center.
